CROSS PLAINS SCHOOLS
The award-winning Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District is made up of more than 7,000 students and includes six elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school and a charter high school. It also has a robust 4K and early childhood program.
Park Elementary in Cross Plains serves approximately 300 K-5 students. Monica Schommer was named the principal at Park in 2011 and she has a staff of more than 20 full-time teachers. Glacier Creek opened in 1996 and an addition to house fifth-graders was opened in 2014. The school serves students in fifth through eighth grade. The school has more than 1,000 students and 60 full-time teachers and is led by principal Bill Deno and assistant principal Ken Metz.
Park significantly exceeded expectations -- the highest of five categories -- on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction School Report Cards that were issued in the fall of 2014. Only 116 schools out of more than 2,100 that were graded were in the top category. Glacier Creek exceeded expectations, which is the second-highest category. Report cards were not issued in 2015, but are expected to be released in the fall of 2016.
St. Francis Xavier Catholic School has been serving students in the Cross Plains, Black Earth, Mazomanie, Middleton, and Mt. Horeb communities since 1857. They offer a faith-based curriculum for children in 4K through 8th grade that prepares students to meet the challenges that await the next generation. The faculty, staff, parents and students of St. Francis Xavier Catholic School are committed to working together to create a positive learning experience that helps prepare students for life.
St. Peter was founded in 1866 and offers a values-based curriculum for 4K through fifth grade.
Students who live in the Town or Village of Cross Plains and decide to go to public schools attend Park Elementary and Glacier Creek Middle School. MCPASD offers two high schools for students in grades 9-12: Middleton High School and Clark Street Community School, which is a project-based charter school.
