Cross Plains, Wisconsin is located about 7 miles west of Middleton, and about 12 miles west of Madison. It's a 10-minute ride from Cross Plains to Madison's main expressway, known as the Beltline Highway, or USH 12/14.
 
The Village of Cross Plains is home to approximately 3200 people, nestled in the northwestern section of Dane County. Its neighboring communities include Pine Bluff to the south, Springfield and Sauk City to the north, and Black Earth, Mazomanie, Arena and Spring Green to the west via USH 14.

  The Village of Cross Plains owns and maintains 25 acres
of developed parks, including Municipal Park with a the
swimming pool, ball diamonds, playground, park shelter and picnic areas.
 Baer park has lighted ball diamonds, volleyball court, tennis courts, ice skating rink, playground, park shelter and picnic areas.
  There are five neighborhood parks with play equipment, landscaped areas and open play and picnic areas.
  The village also owns 81 acres of conservancy park areas.  
  Flowing through the Village of Cross Plains are the spring-fed headwaters of the world renowned Black Earth Creek, a high quality trout stream that attracts fly-fishers and other anglers from throughout the Midwest.
  In 2007, Cross Plains was named the new headquarters of the Ice Age Trail Alliance, formerly known as the Ice Age Trail Foundation. In the areas surrounding Cross Plains are Ice Age Trail hiking areas, on acreage donated by local landowners for preservation in perpetuity. This includes the Swamplovers property located on County Road KP, north of USH 14.

Hike the Ice Age Trail
    Hikers and nature lovers flock to Cross Plains to walk along the glacially-carved landscapes of the Ice Age Trail. The Cross Plains area is not only privileged to host property dedicated to the Ice Age Trail, one of 11 National Parks Service Trails, but also is home to the Ice Age Trail Alliance headquarters on Main Street.

Fish the Black Earth Creek
  The head waters of this Class I trout stream are just downstream from the Village of Cross Plains. Village of Cross Plains officials and volunteers have long since been diligent stewards of the this cold water stream, making strides in mitigating any pollution through the decades. Anglers come from all over to fly-fish here. It is also the location of Cross Plains' popular Trout Day annual fishing event.

                                                Visit the Veterans Memorial 
The Cross Plains Veterans Memorial is located at the South corner entrance to Post 245, American Legion Park.  The memorial consists of 5 perimeter seating benches that are supported with side mounted columns.  These 5 benches are arranged in the outer perimeter of a circle, that surrounds 4 central benches and 3 flag poles.  The central benches are supported by a wall.  The benches, columns, and walls are make of black granite.  The pavement bricks are made of Rushmore granite.  The perimeter benches are engraved and dedicated to the 5 military branches of the United States.  The perimeter bench and support columns are engraved and dedicated to the major wars the United States has fought in.  This memorial will always be a place to visit and remember our veterans and serve as a place for patriotic events for years to come.  This memorial is a dignified and beautiful reflection of our gratitude to our veterans.

                                                
Rosemary Garfoot Public Library
  The Rosemary Garfoot Public Library was several years in  the planning, and completed in 2006 It is a state-of-the-art "green-built" structure, the first in the State of Wisconsin. It holds a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certificate.

  The library is located at 2107 Julius St, north  of USH 14 in the Village of Cross Plains.
